Duties

 

Provide instruction to facilitate the acquisition of vocational/technical knowledge to high school students in the area of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice.

Potential Duties are: 

  1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated as negotiated in school board policies.
  2. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the Center.
  3. Prepares for assigned classes, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the administration.
  4. Maintains acceptable standards of student classroom behavior.
  5. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  6. Evaluates students’ progress on a regular basis.
  7. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and Center policy.
  8. Assists in upholding and enforcing Center rules and Board of Control Policy.
  9. Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
  10. Assists in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  11. Participates in professional growth through an ongoing program of workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning as provided for in the negotiated board contract.
  12. Participates in any other duties as assigned by the Director.

This is a 2/3 time position teaching at a Career Center serving students from 10 different high schools in Monroe, Randolph and St. Clair Counties. This position has the potential to become full time with increasing enrollment. 

 

 

Qualifications

 

Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelors Degree in the appropriate discipline and a valid teaching certificate. Be eligible for a provisional or temporary provisional teaching certificate.
  • In order to obtain a provisional teaching certificate, candidates must have a minimum of 2,000 hours of work experience in the specific endorsement area to be taught or as set forth in the Illinois State Board of Education requirements for instructional personnel to teach in reimbursable programs in Agricultural Education; Business, Marketing and Management; Health Occupations; Family and Consumer Science Occupations; and Industrial Technology Education

 

 

Salary/Benefits

 

Salary is based upon terms of Collective Bargaining Agreement base salary with no experience is $27,990. This is a part time position working from 8:00 am-12:50 pm each school day.  There is a Board contribution to the Teacher Retirement System and health benefits.

The campus of Career Center of Illinois is a diverse campus that serves students in a variety of ways. Our Career and Technical Education Programs serve a variety of students in a tri-county area. This program has potential for growth with the right instructor.
