GENERAL SUMMARY:

 To make weld repairs to defects in castings as identified by inspectors or supervisors which meet quality acceptance criteria.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1.  Make weld repairs to defects in castings which meet quality acceptance level established for the job on a daily basis.

    2.  Use overhead bridge cranes and jib cranes to properly position castings for weld repair.

    3.  Using X-ray film, daily locate casting defects requiring weld repair in areas identified by inspectors as those requiring upgrade.

    4.  Prepare the set-up and fixturing for fabrication assemblies.

    5.  Execute the welding of fabrication assemblies.

    6.  Perform housekeeping functions as needed to keep work area clean and safe.

    7.  Select proper weld wire and electrodes based on identification of base metal alloy or NCR.

    8.  Know and use proper techniques for stick, MIG, and TIG welding.

    9.  Observe correct procedures for the storage and handling of welding consumables.

   10.  Record weld repairs on weld maps as required by specifications.

   11.  Use arc-air equipment to remove gating and risering from castings.

   12.  Use arc-air equipment to cut up scrap castings.

   13.  Grind to evaluate welds.

   14.  Complete time sheets and welders tracking log as required to accurately record how time is spent during shift (shop floor reporting).

   15.  Perform all other duties as requested.
