POSITION DESCRIPTION: In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, the Administrative Assistant of Community Education provides a wide range of professional secretarial and technical work in the Community Education department that requires a high degree of proficiency and confidentiality. This position provides front office support and assists with all Community Education programming which includes budget management, enrollment, refund processing, course scheduling, marketing, maintaining personnel files, and generating contracts with third parties using SWIC property. The assigned responsibilities will involve standard and complex secretarial/clerical and computer skills that will require significant coordination with the general public. The Administrative Assistant of Community Education requires the application of independent judgment and initiative in the undertaking and organizing of jobs on a daily basis with minimum supervision. This position reports to and receives direction from the Director of Community Education.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. An Associate’s degree is required.
  2. Three years’ experience in secretarial/clerical work is required.
  3. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills are required.
  4. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  5. Experience in office management is preferred.
  6. Knowledge of PeopleSoft is preferred.
  7. Experience in an educational institution is preferred.

 

SALARY: $19.00 per hour, up to 28 hours per week.
