Description This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command.As a TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST at the GS-2101-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Perform independent analyses for completing functional system requirements and special projects.
  • Identify requirements, analyze feasibility, and provide recommendations for incorporating software changes and capability modifications into future transportation systems.
  • Recommend courses of action and work breakdown structures for integrating overall project plans; completes analyses of actions considering relevant internal and external dependencies, and integrates requirements to determine viable approaches for accomplishing tasks.
  • Transition user requirements to written system specifications for software development; prepare and coordinate functional system descriptions and data output requirements associated with personal property applications as required.
  • Coordinate defined tasks with supervisor, acquisition management specialists, and software developers.
  • Prepare work products to meet objectives for content, design, and development.
  • Participate in translating functional requirements to DPS, MilMove, Move.mil, TOPS, and other software design tools, and reviews resulting products for accuracy and feasibility.
  • Assist in coordinating certified contract deliverables with the USTRANSCOM Program Executive Office - TRANSCOM (PEO-T)
  • Communicate orally and in writing with all levels of personnel from the Branch Chief, various project or program managers, and Military Branch of Service Headquarters representatives.
You may qualify at the GS-13 level if you fulfill the following qualifications.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Analyzing, designing, and maintaining information systems for joint service use at worldwide locations.
  • Assisting software developers and contractors with integrating data, formulating recommendations, and providing research.
  • Analyzing customer feedback information for potential impact on programs to facilitate revisions, implementation, and guidance.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
