Scheduling is a rewarding, challenging, and dynamic process. The approved, printed schedule normally requires changes due to aircraft mechanical problems, medical issues, flight evaluation requirements, expiring event currencies, deployments and student training continuity. Weather conditions and other factors beyond the control of the scheduler also limit flying opportunities. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with the training officer, training non-commissioned officer (NCO), squadron aviation resource management (SARM), Unit Deployment Manager (UDM), and Operations Officer (DO) to arrange a schedule to facilitate operations, qualification, upgrade, test, exercises, and continuation training accomplishment to meet required currency and progression standards, in accordance with (IAW) DO priorities.
  • Builds long- and short-range shift schedules to ensure full coverage of all aircrew, instructor, evaluator, support personnel, and supervisor positions.
  • Builds device utilization schedules to ensure student throughput requirements, Government Use Time (GUT), Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) exercises, testing events, and all other device-specific activities are met and comply with contractual requirements.
  • Coordinates with senior squadron leadership on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Coordinates with simulator contractors as required for simulator events.
  • Tracks crewmember leave, temporary duty, schedules medical appointments or other scheduling commitments and backfill their absences. Contractor will de-conflict crewmember schedules and coordinate with flight leadership to ensure crew members are available to meet assigned sortie taskings.
  • Tracks daily flight/ground/academic training requirements and accomplishments to facilitate accurate flight scheduling in support of the DO. To the maximum extent possible, schedules aircrew based on experience to mitigate Operational Risk Management (ORM) as detailed in AMCI 90-903, Aviation ORM.
  • Schedules IAW guidance as outlined by Standardization/Evaluation (Stan/Eval) in conjunction with applicable aircraft manuals, appropriate supplements, and the Go-No/Go Process Guide. Updates will be reported to squadron leadership and be made available to students and instructors through Government-approved means.
  • Facilitates last-minute schedule changes to ensure full coverage by working with the current mission commander/operations supervisor (or equivalent) and flight representative(s) responsible for the shift that is not fully manned.
  • Publishes/posts scheduling data for unit long- and short-range ground/academic, flying, and simulator training event schedules on a government-designated system.
  • Complies with Operations Group (OG), Wing Current Operations (OSO), and Group Training (OST) locally developed guidance when building the schedule.
  • Performs daily updates of scheduling data to compensate for changing conditions and training completion rates.
  • Coordinates with OG, OSO, OST, outside agencies/exercise participants and higher headquarters representatives (i.e., RED FLAG, GREEN FLAG, Mobility Guardian, Weapons School support) for reporting and to facilitate exercise and special event schedules.
  • Provides inputs to Wing Scheduling/Current Operations through attendance at weekly meetings for schedule coordination and de-confliction.
  • Produces Flight Authorizations which have cleared the Group Stan/Eval Go-No/Go process.
  • Updates Load Tracker for the next week’s schedule.
  • Produces the Flying Hour Program Report.
  • Provides security manager(s) a weekly list of Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) requirements in order to generate JPAS letters as required for training missions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience as a USAF aircrew member, or
  • Experience working in a United States Air Force (USAF) Squadron, Group, or Wing flying scheduling office, or
  • Experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) Flying Squadron, Group, or Wing flying scheduling office, or
  • Experience as a scheduler in a transportation, maritime, or commercial airline company.
  • Must have an active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must have a minimum of a High School or GED.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite strongly desired.
  • Experience working with Global Decision Support System (GDSS) or similar proprietary scheduling programs preferred.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite strongly desired.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment is a plus.

    • AFSC – 1C0XX, 1XXX—Operations; 1A0X1—Boom Operator, 1A1X1—Flight Engineer, 1A6X1—Flight Attendant and 1A2X1 - Loadmaster.
    • USA MOS – 15XX.
    • USMC MOS – 60XX, 61XX, 62XX, 73XX, 75XX.
    • NEC D0XX, G5XX; 8235/8251/8251—Flight Engineer.
    • USN Officer 13XX.
