Job Summary:

Scheduling is a challenging, dynamic process. The approved, printed schedule normally requires numerous changes due to aircraft mechanical problems, medical issues, flight evaluation requirements, expiring event currencies, deployments and student training continuity. Weather conditions and other factors beyond the control of the scheduler also limit flying opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the training officer, training non-commissioned officer (NCO), squadron aviation resource management (SARM), Unit Deployment Manager (UDM), and Operations Officer (DO) to arrange a schedule to facilitate operations, qualification, upgrade, test, exercises, and continuation training accomplishment to meet required currency and progression standards, in accordance with (IAW) DO priorities.
  • Build long- and short-range shift schedules to ensure full coverage of all aircrew, instructor, evaluator, support personnel, and supervisor positions.
  • Build device utilization schedules to ensure student throughput requirements, Government Use Time (GUT), Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) exercises, testing events, and all other device-specific activities are met and comply with contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate with senior squadron leadership on a daily and weekly basis. Coordinate with simulator contractors as required for simulator events.
  • Track crewmember leave, temporary duty, scheduled medical appointments or other scheduling commitments and backfill their absences. Contractor will de-conflict crewmember schedules and coordinate with flight leadership to ensure crew members are available to meet assigned sortie taskings.
  • Track daily flight/ground/academic training requirements and accomplishments to facilitate accurate flight scheduling in support of the DO. To the maximum extent possible, schedule aircrew based on experience to mitigate Operational Risk Management (ORM) as detailed in AMCI 90-903, Aviation ORM. Schedule IAW guidance as outlined by Standardization/Evaluation (Stan/Eval) in conjunction with applicable aircraft manuals, appropriate supplements, and the Go-No/Go Process Guide. Updates will be reported to squadron leadership and be made available to students and instructors through Government-approved means.
  • Facilitate last-minute schedule changes to ensure full coverage by working with the current mission commander/operations supervisor (or equivalent) and flight representative(s) responsible for the shift that is not fully manned.
  • Publish/post scheduling data for unit long- and short-range ground/academic, flying, and simulator training event schedules on a Government-designated system.
  • Comply with Operations Group (OG), Wing Current Operations (OSO), and Group Training (OST) locally-developed guidance when building the schedule.
  • Perform daily updates of scheduling data to compensate for changing conditions and training completion rates.
  • Coordinate with OG, OSO, OST, outside agencies/exercise participants and higher headquarters representatives (i.e., RED FLAG, GREEN FLAG, Mobility Guardian, Weapons School support) for reporting and to facilitate exercise and special event schedules.
  • Provide inputs to Wing Scheduling/Current Operations through attendance at weekly meetings for schedule coordination and de-confliction.
  • Produce Flight Authorizations which have cleared the Group Stan/Eval Go-No/Go process.
  • Update Load Tracker for the next week’s schedule.
  • Produce the Flying Hour Program Report.
  • Provide security manager(s) a weekly list of Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) requirements in order to generate JPAS letters as required for training missions.
