Purpose

Professional Therapy Services is looking for a Physical Therapy Aide who will be responsible for carrying out therapy tasks and office/clerical work at various Outpatient Therapy Clinics. Physical Therapy Aide tasks are under supervision of a licensed physical therapist. Previous experience in a healthcare environment is preferred. Part-time and full-time applicants will be considered.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must be CPR certified or eligible for CPR certification.

Therapy Aide Duties (abbreviated job description)

  • Safely transports patients and supplies as directed by Therapy Supervisor.
  • Uses proper techniques when assisting clients and handling equipment.
  • Handles equipment properly and carefully.
  • Assists therapists in patient care tasks.
  • Assists therapists as directed in treatments.
  • Gathers equipment for the therapists.
  • Assists therapists in the aquatic area as directed.
  • Assumes personal responsibility for patient, environment and person safety.
  • Maintains safe therapeutic environment.
  • Cleans work area and equipment as directed.
  • Alert and responsive to patients’ needs.
  • Ensures equipment in maintained in good working order.
  • Performs office duties as directed.

 Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift and carry equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Capable of standing and/or walking during the majority of shift. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling and reaching activities.
  • Able to demonstrate proper body mechanics and lifting techniques with all patient transfers.
  • Remain calm and effective in emergency/stressful situations.
