POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary function/purpose of this job.

 

Monitor Sports Parks/Fields/Teams

Communicate with scorekeepers, umpires, concession workers, maintenance workers, volunteers and players to ensure safe and efficient programs. Monitor preparation, selling and serving of food and drink items at events. Maintain a safe and sanitary concession stand environment, restroom facility and park facility. Provide excellent customer service to patrons at all times.

 

Must be 21+ years of age.

Rate of pay - $18.50 per hour

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The major task areas required to successfully perform this job. 

 

Perform Site Supervisor duties at the Sports Park/Fields and provide excellent customer service at all times.

  • Serve as supervisor for concessionaires, officials, scorekeeper, & teams.
  • Monitor staff, volunteers, participants and visitors and correct any inappropriate behavior.
  • Assist in setup and breakdown of all equipment and trash from games.
  • Greet patrons in the stands.
  • Ensure all staff is on time and games start and end on schedule.
  • Verify correct team games/rosters with scorekeeper.
  • Fill out and submit all necessary paperwork for daily event.
  • React to possible accidents or incidents involving players, coaches or spectators.
  • Provide support to officials on possible protests or ejections.
  • Inform Recreation Supervisor of daily operational problems, injuries, and/or concerns immediately.

 

Establish and maintain a safe and professional work environment.

  • Maintain good personal hygiene and appearance.
  • Communicate with all staff during potential inclement weather or unsafe playing conditions.
  • Check restroom facilities during event to ensure cleanliness and clean/restock as necessary.
  • Follow all appropriate local and state health department rules and regulations.

 

Provide customer service and tracking concessions.

  • Assist with concessions as needed. 
  • Assistant with opening and closing the facility as needed
  • Track concession inventory and report.
  • Creates new money bags daily

 

Supervise rentals at the Watershed Nature Center and West End Service Station.

  • Ensure event space is clean
  • Assist with event set up and breakdown
  • Clean restrooms as needed
  • Remove trash from facility
  • Assist renter as needed

 

Assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum requirements to competently perform the key responsibilities of this job in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications, physical requirements and other knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Prior supervisory experience, knowledge of scorekeeping and/or officiating sports preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to work in outside weather conditions.
  • CPR & First Aid Certified (Preferred)
  • Must agree to get a Food Handlers Certification (Expense paid by City)
  • Must be 21+ years of age or older.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work weekdays, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to resolve participant/coach complaints and concerns professionally and respectfully.
  • Heightened awareness of, and the ability to maintain, a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to reach high, overhead levels and low floor levels by either reach or by bending of the back or knees.
  • Ability to lift or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in outside weather conditions.
