Job Description:

This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment such as metal fabricating, machine tools, material-handling system, and automated lubrication system. You will be expected to ensure that equipment and machinery are in proper operating condition to maximize production and minimize down time. This position is also responsible for general building maintenance. Prior experience in the repair of CNC equipment is required for this position. Due to the nature of the business, candidates must be US Citizens. This is a Union Position.

 

Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:

  • Steel toed or composite shoes and ANSI approved safety glasses with side shields must be worn at all times.
  • Complete periodic machine tool preventive maintenance.
  • Utilize tool room equipment such as engine lathe, milling machine, drill press, and welding equipment.
  • Ensure machine availability and reliability performance.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul electrical/mechanical systems like pumps, gearboxes, ball screws, slide assemblies, and other drive mechanisms.
  • Proper use of micrometers, calipers and dial indicators.
  • Complete fabrication projects from drawings by using tool room equipment.
  • Perform installation and set-up of new equipment.
  • Operate forklift when required.
  • Work with CMMS system to record work orders and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment including identification of unsafe conditions. 
  • Assist mechanical engineer to modify sketches or computer-generated designs of machine components, (such as hydraulic system and drive mechanism, applying knowledge of shop mathematics, hydraulics, and mechanics.)
  • Perform diagnosis/repair on low voltage and control circuits (less than 240 VAC).
  • Disassemble and assemble electrical wires, connections, conduit, motors, controls, etc. on de-energized machinery/equipment and facility.
  • Perform continuous improvement (lean) activities.


Requirements:

  • Prior experience in the repair of CNC equipment is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment performing repairs to machinery,
  • 1+ year’s experience in plumbing, electrical repair, and air conditioning.
  • Minimum education of high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience operating a forklift.
  • Experienced in following detailed operational procedures and Blueprints.
  • Experience utilizing a variety of hand tools.
  • Prior professional experience with plumbing, electrical, construction, and hydraulics. 
  • Comprehensive communication skills in the English language electronically, verbally, and written.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, sit, bend and move freely about the plant.
  • Proficient computer skills, comfortable working with Windows Microsoft applications.
  • Due to the nature of the business: U.S. Citizenship is required.


Desired Skills and Attributes:

  • Knowledge of all standard measuring equipment including the proper use of micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
  • Ability to read and write and to follow detailed written instructions. 
  • Ability t complete fabrication projects from drawings by using tool room equipment, such as engine lathe, milling machine, drill press, and welding equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with hands and hand tools (welding, wrenches, etc.) in mechanically oriented situation. 
  • Knowledgeable of Lean Manufacturing methods.
  • Knowledgeable of 5S.
  • Motivated self-starter works well independently as well as with a team in a manufacturing environment.
  • Highly organized, analytical, and logical problem solver.
