POSITION SUMMARY:

Hockey Instructors are instrumental staff responsible upholding our standards while making the guests experience a great one. Hockey Instructors should be dynamic and keep players engaged, organized, safe and ensure that the players have fun. Hockey Instructors are responsible for assisting on & off the ice and teaching at skill development stations for all hockey development programs.

 

Pay Rate: $32 per hour

Night and Weekend Shifts

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

On and off ice instruction

  • Assist Learn to Play Hockey programming on and off-ice activities, including check-in, assisting players with gear, rink supplies set up and other assigned duties.
  • Assist Hockey Initiation programs including teaching skill development stations
  • Assist skill development for all assigned rinks programs including rec-league clinics and practices-support all rinks hockey programs.
  • Be a positive ambassador for the sport of hockey & The RP Lumber Center
  • Hockey Coaches/Instructors are responsible to assist at Hockey Initiation, Learn to Play Hockey, Hockey Camps and coach teams as assigned.
  • Hockey Instructors should be at the rink at least 30 minutes before scheduled sessions and be ready to go onto the ice 15 minutes before players take the ice.
  • Meet with Head Hockey Coach/ Instructor prior to scheduled sessions to review on ice plan.
  • Interact with players and parents prior to taking the ice, be friendly.
  • Assist with ice set up, pucks, nets etc.
  • Stop and teach – set a standard for development by using positive reinforcement when coaching.
  • Be present and interact with all participants - make it fun!
  • Stay with your assigned skill station and keep the group organized.
  • Be familiar with “Next Steps” Programs.
  • Make sure all interactions with players are fun and productive.
  • Score keep hockey games as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Must have 2 years of hockey experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate on ice hockey skills.
  • Meet all USA Hockey and Safesport screening requirements and hold a Level 1 or 2 USA Hockey coaching credential.
  • Must be able to ice skate; lift and carry up to 25 pounds while skating.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to excel in team atmosphere.
  • Demonstrate a fun, energetic and outgoing personality.
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast paced work environment.
  • Flexible schedule – must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to be a team player and enjoy working in a team environment.
  • Have knowledge and a clear understanding of the USA Hockey American Development Model Association Program. (ADM)
  • Customer service oriented.

  • Passionate about teaching; possesses dynamic characteristics of energy, assertiveness, drive, enthusiasm, and fun
