Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Psychologist III to serve as Staff Psychologist and Clinical Program Coordinator to professional staff and Behavior Intervention Committee (BIC) members. Serves as designated lead worker. Manages a caseload, ensures coordination of psychiatric follow-up and presentation of clinical data for behavioral review, counts data and reports statistical information as part of the Interdisciplinary (ID) process. Uses data to adjust individual programming. Ensures consents are obtained for restrictive programming/procedures in accordance with policy and procedures, serves as the Chair for the Behavior Intervention Committee. Participates and assists the Psychology Department providing facility-wide psychological training by carrying the responsibility for in-service training in the areas of behavior intervention and aggression management training. 

Essential Functions

  • Serves as Staff Psychologist and Clinical Program Coordinator to professional staff and Behavior Intervention Committee (BIC) members.
  • Participates as a member of the individuals ID Team.
  • Serves as designated lead worker.
  • Serves as the Chair for the Behavior Intervention Committee and monitors and revises new and current programming as well as reviews of restrictive procedure in accordance with guidelines.
  • Serves as liaison with the consulting physician, in the absence of the Assistant Clinical Director.
  • Participates and assists the Psychology Department providing facility-wide psychological training by carrying the responsibility for in-service training in the areas of behavior intervention and aggression management training.
  • Assists the Assistant Clinical Director in providing consultant psychological services to community agencies throughout the Service Area.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to a doctoral degree in psychology from a recognized college or university supplemented by two (2) years' professional psychology experience. For candidates not possessing these qualifications, a master's degree in psychology from a recognized college or university is a minimum requirement. If the minimum educational requirement is met, five (5) years' qualifying professional psychology experience may be substituted for the doctoral degree in psychology and two (2) years' experience. May require licensure as a Clinical Psychologist by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

  • Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
