Jacobs is seeking a qualified Senior System Administrator professional to support the IT Service Management (ITSM) contract at Scott AFB, IL. Combined with an extensive IT background, Information Solutions Group's enhanced IT services enable our clients to analyze existing business processes, identify process improvements, evaluate associated risks, and develop operational solutions.

 

Under general direction, the Senior System Administrator is responsible for activities related to system administration. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assign personnel to various projects, direct their activities, and evaluate their work
  • Ensure Tier II troubleshooting support for incidents occurs within one (1) business day after receipt of request during normal business hours
  • Ensure long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization
  • Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer software
  • Implement operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, in support of business processing requirements
  • Ensure response to hardware or software problems occurs after duty hours with a two (2) hour response time to begin work
  • Document troubleshooting and resolutions in an automated tool
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize operating systems, applications, and vendor specific software supporting the servers and peripheral equipment
  • Maintain C2, business and office information system accounts
  • Perform account and access management for servers, out-of-band systems, specified applications and databases.
  • Perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
  • Schedule installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures
  • Monitor and tune the system to achieve optimum performance levels
  • Ensure workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions
  • Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
  • Support media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services
  • Configure and maintain print devices to include establishing print queues on USTRANSCOM’s print servers and maintaining detailed documentation pertaining to the configuration and location of each device
  • Develop and promote standard operating procedure
  • Conduct routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation 

The selected candidate must have the following:

  • Experience with design, configuration, deployment, and tuning of a windows domain.
  • Ability to work with vendors such as Microsoft, VMWare, Quantum to assist in the design, implementation and integration of new concepts and functionality to the existing architecture.
  • Experience leading a team and performing related administrative tasks
  • Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining both physical and virtual servers
  • The ability to support 24-hour Weekend/Holiday On-Call Operations and respond onsite within two (2) hours of notification
  • The ability to support roughly 3 contingency/emergency/exercise periods per year

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires 10 years of experience and a MS/MA degree. An IAT Level II certification is required. The minimum of a Secret level DoD Security Clearance is required.
