Job Summary:

Akima Intra-Data (AID) is seeking a Quality Control Specialist for the Base Operations Support (BOS) contract at Keesler AFB, Mississippi. The Quality Control Specialist works under the direction of the Quality Manager and assists with the implementation, administration, and execution of the Quality Control Program (QCP), Quality Control Plan, and Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures designed to ensure contract requirements are defined, understood, and effectively achieved. Ensures acceptable quality control practices to include surveillance methods, key performance indicators (KPIs), root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions are implemented and maintained to ensure delivery of quality work and services throughout the project. Plan and complete periodic management system audits to ensure work activities are performed in accordance with established procedures and processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with the Quality Control (QC) Manager, functional managers, shop supervisors, and project personnel to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion of tasks by conducting day-to-day compliance and performance through independent and joint quality audits and inspections.
  • Evaluates the BOS contract performance based on Performance Work Statement (PWS), QMS, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures AID personnel and subcontractor personnel comply with PWS requirements and QCP procedures and processes by performing random and scheduled inspections of work in progress and finished work using appropriate inspections methods and criteria.
  • Ensures the contract adheres to and in compliance with the applicable procedures, codes, and regulations as outlined in the contract PWS and through implementation of the QCP elements.
  • Inspects and validates actual contract performance against the contract PWS and contract performance metrics and key performance indicators using various types of inspection techniques while completing necessary inspection reports and documentation required to support findings, retain all inspection data, and provide inspection results to the QC Manager and appropriate functional management.
  • Plans and completes periodic management system audits to ensure work activities are performed in accordance with established procedures and processes.
  • Participates in the identification and evaluation of non-compliant services and assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of corrective and preventive actions using appropriate root-cause analysis principles and techniques.
  • Conducts timely re-inspections in areas where deficiencies are identified.
  • Works closely with the QC Manager and functional area managers in the identification and correction of deficiencies. Initiates and assist in providing immediate corrective actions and/or resolution for noted deficiencies. Verifies the appropriate and complete application of corrective actions.
  • Investigates customer complaints and reports findings to the QC Manager. Researches and recommends resolutions to customer complaints.
  • Track, verify, and monitor employee training and certifications in the QMS. Assist with organizational training needs such as scheduling and records management.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications - External

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year hands-on experience performing quality control functions or comparable.
  • Familiar with QC/Quality Assurance and ISO principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate ideas effectively with personnel at all levels.
  • Good administrative skills. Two (2) years’ experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Power Point software programs.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diverse situations. Mature judgment and ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Mississippi driver's license.
  • Either possess or capable of attaining a Secret Clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • An associate degree or higher in related field.
  • More than one (1) year experience performing quality control functions on a DoD contract or comparable.
  • Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
