JOB TITLE:

Full-time Speech and Language Pathologist (High School and Route 21 Transition)

 

JOB GOAL:

To assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders in students, particularly those enrolled in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 Plans.  To collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create comprehensive treatment plans that support students' academic and social success.

 

REPORTS TO:
Director of Special Services

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology or Communication Disorders
  2. Active Illinois Professional Educator’s Licensure for SLP
  3. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues
  5. Familiarity with the IEP process and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  6. Knowledge of assessment tools and intervention strategies for a wide range of speech and language disorders
  7. Organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate documentation and tracking student progress
  8. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advances in the field
  9. Dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for students with diverse communication needs

 

DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech, language, and communication disorders in secondary school students
  2. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to students' needs and goals
  3. Provide direct therapy services to students in both individual and group settings
  4. Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to integrate speech and language goals into students' educational programs
  5. Monitor students' progress and adjust intervention strategies as necessary to facilitate improvement
  6. Participate in IEP meetings to contribute expertise regarding speech and language goals and accommodations
  7. Provide support and training to teachers and staff on strategies to promote language development and communication skills in the classroom
  8. Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, progress reports, and treatment plans in accordance with school and regulatory requirements
  9. Keep abreast of current research and best practices in the field of speech-language pathology
  10. Advocate for the needs of students with communication disorders and participating in school-wide initiatives to promote inclusivity and accessibility
  11. Complete paperwork consistent with expectations and regulations associated with IDEA

Compensation is based on Appendix "A" of the Agreement between the Board of Education, O'Fallon Township High School District No. 203 and the O'Fallon Federation of Teachers, O'Fallon, Illinois 62269 (Collective Bargaining Agreement).
