Position Overview

The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire a Social Worker IV for the Illinois Center for Rehabilitation & Education – Roosevelt to conduct therapy and counseling services, including psychoeducational groups, and counseling with students and parents/guardians with consultation from supervisor or consulting psychiatrists and other doctors. This position coordinates student social service entitlements and directly works with students and families on a regular basis regarding students trust funds, weekly home visits, medical trips, student vacation breaks, and coordination of consulting services. The Social Worker IV serves as a lead worker to lower-level staff and plans and conducts in-service training for staff. This position serves as a qualified examiner for admission, participates in ICRE-R admissions, case management, individualized educational plans (IEP), and discharge meetings.  

Essential Functions

  • As a social worker for the Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education – Roosevelt (ICRE – R) conducts therapy and counseling services, including psychoeducational groups, and counseling with students and parents/guardians with consultation from supervisor or consulting psychiatrists and other doctors.
  • Coordinates student social service entitlements, including Social Security Administration benefits, medical insurance, transportation services, housing placement, and home services.
  • Directly works with students and families on a regular basis regarding students trust funds, weekly home visits, medical trips, student vacation breaks, and coordination of consulting services.
  • Serves as designated lead worker to lower-level staff.
  • Serves as a qualified examiner for admission, participates in ICRE-R admissions, case management, individualized educational plans (IEP), and discharge meetings.
  • Plans and conducts in-service training for staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a master's degree in social work from a recognized school of social work supplemented by three (3) years of supervised post master's clinical social work practice.
  • Requires licensure as a clinical social worker (LCSW) from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois law.
  • Requires Professional Educator License Type 73 School Social Work endorsement from ISBE.
